Unique to Red Dog Pet Resort & Spa is our Aquatics Center. Your dog will enjoy time in one of our supervised aquatic offerings, which include either our Introduction to Swim or Private Fun Swims. Warm water exercise has numerous benefits for pets and is ideal for arthritis, improving flexibility, increasing endurance, weight loss, relaxation, building confidence, athletic & post-surgical conditioning, and general overall wellness. We cannot wait to welcome your pup to our pool!

We partner with your veterinarian to begin your dog’s journey to vitality. If your dog has any medical condition, injury or pre/post-operative needs, we’ll need a note from your veterinarian clearing your dog for activity.

Introduction to Swim

Looking to introduce your dog to swimming? Warm water swimming has tremendous health benefits for both humans and dogs alike. You’re making a great choice to enhance your dog’s overall well-being.

Our Introduction to Swim is a great place to start! We use a slow and steady approach to help your dog feel more comfortable in the water. This method includes positive reinforcement through provided toys and treats, breaks when needed, and a focus on confidence building.

Our Aquatics Specialists use their expertise to make a potentially traumatic and overstimulating experience a fun and enjoyable one. Introduction to Swim is for new swimmers only.

Fun Swim

Fun Swims are exactly what they sound like – fun! Your dog can experience the joy, rejuvenation and exercise benefits of swimming. This option is best suited for dogs who simply enjoy being in the water. Our sessions are approximately 20 minutes or 30 minutes long and include splashing in the water, directed play with our Fitness Practitioner and may include treats & toys. Sessions are by appointment only and can be scheduled individually or combined with boarding, daycare, grooming or other amenities. Dogs in the same family can swim in a group for even more fun!

Yes! Red Dog Boston at 274 Southampton St features an indoor heated pool for dogs. The Aquatics Center offers private swim sessions including Introduction to Swim for new swimmers and Fun Swims for water-loving dogs. Sessions are by appointment and can be combined with daycare, boarding, or grooming.

What is dog aquatics therapy and what are the benefits?

Dog aquatics at Red Dog uses warm water exercise to help with arthritis, flexibility, weight loss, endurance, confidence building, and post-surgical recovery. Sessions are led by trained Aquatics Specialists using buoyancy vests, positive reinforcement, and hands-on support. Both Boston and Cincinnati locations offer this service.

Does my dog need a vet clearance for swimming at Red Dog?

If your dog has a medical condition, injury, or is pre- or post-operative, Red Dog requires a veterinarian's note clearing your dog for aquatic activity. For healthy dogs without known conditions, no vet note is required. Red Dog partners with your vet to support your dog's journey to vitality.
